Creative Spark: Roadmap Meeting



On February 6-7, 2020, at Almaty University of Management in Almaty, a meeting was held at the international level: "Creative Spark: Roadmap Meeting", under the project of the British Council.
The purpose of the event is to develop a roadmap for improving the ecosystem of entrepreneurial education in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in cooperation with leaders of cultural and creative industries. The project manager, associate professor of the Department of Foreign Languages, KAFU, Anna Oskolkova, took an active part in this meeting.
On the first day of the meeting, the representatives of Kazakhstani and British partner universities made presentations on the main types of cooperation in the academic, creative, social and business fields. The meeting participants asked each other questions, exchanged expert opinions and made recommendations for further effective partnership.
Anna Alexandrovna spoke about the main types of cooperation with organizations of the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk (Republic of Kazakhstan) and the University of East London (London, UK), and also spoke about the main activities of the Student hub and their future potential for effective creative entrepreneurship.
The second day of the event was devoted to the group work of the meeting participants in the following areas: Entrepreneurial Hubs, Research, Cooperation and Partnerships and Academic Programs.
At the end of the meeting, the representative of the British Council, Aitzhamal Mansurova, the director of the British Council in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, Rowan Kennedy, as well as the Creative Spark Program Manager, Hande Diker, summed up the following results of the event:
• 29,500 young participants are already taking part in the program, 540 organizations, 639 events were carried out;
• 92% of participants in cooperation consider their partnership to be successful, and 97% are confident that their partnership will last at least another 2 years;
• thanks to the program, the level of entrepreneurship of participants and their surroundings has increased;
• English skills of participants have been improved;
• students emphasize the development of their entrepreneurial skills, professional ties, and self-confidence.
